Leadership

Veselin Mijajlović is an internationally recognised underwater demining and professional-diving expert with more than three decades of leadership, operational and instructional experience.

In 2002 he initiated the establishment of Montenegro’s government-founded Regional Centre for Underwater Demining and Diver Training (RCUD). He served as its Director and professional-diver training instructor until 2025, building international cooperation and developing new generations of underwater deminers.

His earlier public-service career included command and instructor roles in Montenegro’s Territorial Defence diving detachment and the Ministry of Interior’s specialist diving unit.

Clearance of approximately 750,000 m² of seabed and removal of 17 tonnes of legacy ordnance preceded the safe development of Porto Montenegro.

Waterfront redevelopment

Approximately 200,000 m² was cleared and 10 tonnes of legacy ordnance removed at the former Kumbor military base, ahead of the Portonovi development.

In 2011, Vesko Mijajlović received an award for his humanitarian work at the "BIG BLUE" event in Italy, presented by Italian journalist and Rome culture representative Giancarlo Magalli.

Marevivo Award

Marevivo, Rome

Vesko Mijajlović received the first prize from the ocean protection organization "MAREVIVO" during the "FIVE EVENINGS FOR THE SEA" event, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Environment. The award honored his humanitarian mission, contributions to underwater demining, and efforts to safeguard citizens.

Under Mijajlović’s leadership, RCUD trained more than 100 underwater deminers from Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Russia, Serbia and Slovenia.
